Organizational Commitment

To facilitate acceptance of the information management plan at all levels of an organization, there should be a documented commitment within the agency at the highest levels. The importance of information management needs to be reflected within the agency through a strategic plan focusing on the leader’s goals and outcomes, monitoring systems and performance standards.

Resource allocation from agency leadership (both in public child welfare and outside of child welfare) underscores organizational commitment. The Executive Team has to value information and see the utility in providing an efficient mechanism to collect, analyze and distribute information across all levels of the organization. If organizational leadership insists on accurate and timely information, the impetus to improve consistently will be in place.
