Achieving Organizational Effectiveness: A Workshop for Agency and Staff Development Leaders
on October 18, 2011 at the 2011 NSDTA Annual Conference

Please join the Organizational Effectiveness (OE) team of the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA), for a full-day workshop on how agency leaders and their training systems can integrate OE into their agency improvement and staff development efforts. While APHSA's OE model of practice is just one example, it has been developed over the past seven years through direct testing and refinement in over 50 improvement projects within over 25 human service agencies. And while OE can be applied to any area of organizational performance and capacity within any program or functional area of an agency, we will be applying a framework and guidance developed by a nation-wide team of experts in the child welfare field.

APHSA facilitators and participants from agencies who have built OE capacity in their training systems will answer the following questions during this event:

• What is OE and why is it important to my agency?
• How does the national guidance on agency effectiveness in child welfare apply to my situation, and how do I use it to make improvements in my own context?
• What are the primary models, tools, templates and methods that comprise an OE practice?
• How have public human services agencies used and benefitted from OE and the national guidance?

This workshop will consist of a combination of presentation, real-world case examples and group discussion. Participants will leave with a comprehensive understanding of OE, familiarity with the national guidance on agency effectiveness in child welfare and the many useful tools contained in that guidance, many of the tools that constitute an OE practice, and familiarity with how an agency would establish an initiative to build OE capacity in their own training system.

There is no fee for the workshop and has a limited amount of space.

The 2011 NSDTA Annual Conference is held at: The Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor's Club in Madison, Wisconsin.
